Sue Boswell
At the age of five years, Sue Boswell’s artwork was entered in the County Fair at Pomona, California. Since these early days, her life has been clearly marked with a passion for creative expression. For her, art is a form of praising God … an appreciation for His creation. “When I paint, I actually transcend into what I am painting,” Sue explains. Sue grew up in Southern California and has spent time in England, Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and has lived in Idaho for the past 17 years. Mountains, oceans and wildlife are among her favorite subjects. Sue completed Art Instruction School while in her teens. Sue's specialty began in pencil and pastel portraits. Sue sold portraits of her favorite group, the Beatles, while in High School. She then started in oils and watercolor, acrylic, charcoal and ink. At this time, watercolor is her preferred medium. Using an extensive amount of pigment to bring out extreme color depth is her trademark. The end result is a watercolor with extreme concern for detail. Her technique combines realism and impressionism creating an almost mystical experience. Among other instructors, Sue has taken classes from renowned artist, Roland Giampaoli. Sue has earned awards at art shows and fairs. She displays some of her work at Donterra Gallery, Sisters, Oregon. You are invited to enjoy the “gentle” world expressed through the unique art of Sue Boswell.
A collection of Sue’s work is found among notable artists in the Western USA "Artists of the West," A Book which features over a 130 artists from around the Northwest. This coffee table book will be available May 2008.
"Artists of the West" is also featured in Feb-Mar 2008 Treasure State Lifestyles magazine. Recently Sue completed illustration for a book by a local author which was published in the fall of 2009.
