Linda Davies Gage
Linda Davies Gage most often describes herself as “a ranchwife who paints”. And she is. She and cowboy husband, Leon Gage, are the “crew” on a respectable-sized, high desert beef-cattle ranch west of Jordan Valley, OR.
Linda also shows and sells her fine-art western paintings and drawings throughout seven western states. More than a dozen of her award-winners have been reproduced as signed-and-numbered, ltd.-ed. prints, available from the artist or her representatives. Past/present representation includes galleries; museums; juried fine-art shows and invitation-only fine-art shows. Her work's been awarded gold, silver and bronze medals and chosen as “Best of Show”; “Judge’s Choice” and “People’s Choice”. She's been blessed to have her art appear in articles in Western Horseman, Western Cattleman, Cascade Horseman and Range magazines, as well as in regional newspapers.
Collectors of her landscape paintings point out her use of contrasts and bold color choices. Owners of her intuitive portraiture appreciate her eye for composition and her success in capturing the illusion of shadows and awesome light. They mention the humor often incorporated into her “western living”, representational images.
Her free-lance illustrations appear in books and magazines for three different publishing companies, while her series of educational drawings for Simplot International continues to “tour” Pacific Rim countries as a slide show. A busy, commissioned-portrait artist, Davies Gage paints people, horses, dogs, homes and ranches for appreciative clients, internationally.
She competes ruthlessly with herself, striving always to learn and grow as a painter. She says she enjoys taking art classes as much as teaching them!
