Gerilyn Feustel

Gerilyn Feustel - Artist - Garden City, ID Gerilyn Feustel began the study of art in the late 50’s when her husband’s military career took them to Japan. She attended classes with one of Japan’s well-known impressionists, who escaped WW2, by fleeing to Paris to study true impressionism, while working in oil. In the 60’s when her husband was transferred to Rome, Italy, she attended the Scoula Della Roma. She had not planned a profession in art, but when her husband and she retired to Idaho, she began painting the surrounding wildlife. At the time, Luther & Betsy Douglas were operating The America House which was then located at the Lodge in Sun Valley, Idaho. A friend happened to show some of Geri’s work to Betsy, who was kind enough to hang some of her artwork in her gallery. That was in the 1970’s and Geri has been painting ever since. Now, working primarily in water media, her subject matter has become more diverse. Geri loves attending foreign workshops, and has studied with a number of instructors. Her gallery The Blue Heron is located in Hagerman, Idaho, a lovely small town near the Snake River.
